Being an elected Sheriff is a very diverse law enforcement role that requires experience that meets the demands of the highest Constitutional Office to be in a County.

The roles and responsibilities of police officers and sheriffs’ deputies may overlap, but there are significant differences. The Sheriff is responsible for law enforcement operations that are viewed as some of the highest liability areas in law enforcement, especially when it comes to jail operations.

The Sheriff serves as the County’s head law enforcement official. As Sheriff, key duties include operating high liability duties like the County Jail, Serving Civil Processes (evictions, subpoenas) as well as Criminal Warrants issued by the Courts, Courthouse Security and Transporting prisoners.
