LEADERSHIP THAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE

During my tenure as Sheriff, we have been faced with incidents that require extensive coordination, teamwork and most importantly leadership. As a result of our commitment to service, experience, and dedication we were able to successfully take on some of the largest challenges.

  • 2015 Ice Storm
  • 2020 Super Tuesday Tornado that tragically killed 19 Putnam County residents
  • 2020-2022 Covid 19 Pandemic
  • 2020 Presidential Visit

    During these events, as Sheriff (Chief Law Enforcement Official in the County) he coordinated with our Federal, State, Local and Community partners to develop and implement a rapid and effective response. Events that are under the auspice of a Presidential Disaster Declaration require extensive coordination and documentation for our County to be Federally reimbursed. I am proud to note that my team completed the task without delay, and our County was reimbursed without delay.

IMPLEMENTING PROGRAMS THAT MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY

From day one, my top priority has been the safety of our children in schools. I was fortunate enough to work with the County Commission and develop a plan to address the need for a School Resource Officer in every County school. We have successfully achieved this and we have implemented a highly regarded training program to ensure our deputies are highly trained and effectively equipped. We work daily with the Putnam County Schools to ensure we work collaboratively with all factors that may impact on the safety and security of our children.

I have expanded court security at the Justice Center using new technology, passive security measures that expedite the screening process, and leveraged grants from the Administrative Office of the Courts for cameras and ballistic barriers.

Community partnerships are vital to preventing and investigating many crimes. I have worked with community leaders to develop programs such as:

  • Warrant Wednesday
  • Farm Watch
  • Educational Awareness for Scams and Frauds with financial institutions
  • Citizen’s Academy
  • Project Lifesaver
